Access Athena® Program
Access Athena is a program designed to provide easy access to Athena's testing services. It streamlines the test ordering process and helps alleviate the on-going insurance issues that increase the cost and complexity of running your busy medical practice.
- Blood draw services through a partner phlebotomy service provide a simple way for patients to get their blood drawn and send directly to Athena. You are guaranteed that Athena will perform your test. This service is provided free of charge and is available for patients 14 and older (in some areas, 16 and older).
- Insurance Billing
- Athena's unique Patient Protection Plan limits the financial liability of patients with a commercial insurance plan for which Athena is not a contracted provider. Subject to the deductible, co-pay and co-insurance of their plan, Athena will manage the insurance billing and appeals process. Patients who enroll in the Patient Protection Plan are responsible for only 20% of the amount billed and to insurance, even if their insurance pays nothing. If the insurance company pays more than 80% of the charges, Athena will refund the difference to the patient.
- Patients with a commercial insurance plan for which Athena is a contracted provider will be responsible for the deductible, co-pay and co-insurance obligations of their plan. These patients are not required to pay any up-front charges to Athena. Patients should verify coverage with their individual provider prior to testing.
