Genetic Consult Services
In order to assist physicians with the utilization of Athena's testing services, we provide a genetic counseling consult service. Athena's genetic counselors are available to answer physicians' questions regarding: - Result interpretation
- Risk assessment for family members
- Ordering Tests
- Support group information
- Current literature
- Referrals to genetic counselors in the patient's local area
- Prenatal diagnosis
Our counselors will also contact physicians whose patients have had positive or otherwise abnormal test results. (Please note that only doctors whose names appear on our requisition form will be contacted.) This added service is intended to provide further information regarding test result interpretation and expedite communication of diagnostic information.
