Shipping Considerations
Please label each specimen tube with two forms of patient identification. These forms of identification must also appear on the requisition form.
Preferred Specimen Requirements
Type: Whole blood
Minimum Volume: Adult: 20 mL, Pediatric: 8 mL, Newborn and small infant: 4 mL
Collection Tube: 10 mL in Lavender (EDTA), 10 mL in Green (Sodium Heparin). Pediatric minimum is 4 mL in each tube. Newborn and small infant minimum is 2 mL in each tube
Storage Conditions: For short periods (until shipped) at 4?C
Shipping Conditions: Overnight at room temperature. Hemolysis may compromise DNA recovery and integrity after 24 hours; therefore, specimen arrival must be less than 24 hours after collection.
